Media boys vs girls
After our lesson on media violence, I was thinking about how I have never really met a girl who is into violent video games. I feel like it is such a "boy thing"? I don't really know why that is?
Then this week in Relief Society we talked about carving out time everyday to get closer to Christ. The girl in my ward who was teaching the lesson said, "I am embarrassed to say that I spend about 6 hours on my phone everyday." After she said that, the girls in my row all started checking their screen time. The average was around 5 hours a day.
I thought about earlier in the week I thought girls were much better at media usage than boys, but relief society proved me wrong. I feel like girls are way more into their phones and social media than boys are. I'm not sure if this is actually true, but from what I have observed, girls care a lot more about their social media and being on their phones than boys do.
I wonder why !!!

I wonder why too! This is really interesting to me, especially because my husband wants to go into a career of researching gender stereotypes in our society. I wonder if this is another manifestation of how society can condition us as children to fit into certain stereotypes, or if there is something else going on...
